Radiographic Study in Tetralogy of Fallot

Abstract
|
|
|
Angiocardiography was performed in a total of 150 cases during the period of 11.
years from January 1, 1958 to December 31, 1968 at the National Medical Center. 74 cases out of a total 150 cases which were clinically suspected as congenital heart disease were correctly proved to be Tetralogy of Fallot.
The results were as follows:
1. The males were 49 and the females, 25 with 5Apatients (73%) before 10 years old.
2. Most of patients complained of exertional dyspnea and cyanosis (100%).
3. Arterial 02 saturation range is decreased as 32-90% (66%).
4. Plain X-ray reveals heart is typical boot shape 58 cases (78.4%) with cardio
megaly 63 cases (85.1%) and pulmonary vascularity is decreased 55 cases
(74.3%).
5. Angiocardiographic findings are stenosis subdivide as infundibular type 50 cases (67.6%), valvular type 6 cases (8.1%), indefinite type 5 cases (6.8%), and combined type 10 cases (13.5%).
6. Right sided aorta is 15 cases (20%).
7. Angiocardiography reveals pulmonary vascularities are decreased 66 cases (89.9%).
8. Other anomalies are combined 10 cases (13. 5%) such as situs inversus totalis 3 cases, left superior vena cava 3 cases, double superior vena cava 3 cases and polydactylism 1 case.
9. 57 cases (77%) out of a total 74 cases were operation was performed and most of cases are marked improvement after operation. However, not changed 3 cases, and 9 cases are died.
